Hello and welcome to HCM, Hearing loss is of two types- conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss (related to nerves). Advancing age is associated with sensorineural deafness. In other words it is a part of ageing process. It is difficult to regain the sensorineural hearing loss. It may not be possible to regain the sensorineural hearing loss. The prescription of hearing aid is dependent on the report of audiometry. The hearing machine has to be adjusted according to the audiometry report. Consult your ENT specialist for the adjustment of the hearing aid. Any problem in adjustment of the hearing aid can be the cause of no improvement in hearing.
