Loss Of Hearing In One Ear Due To Ear Infection. Prescribed Amoxicillin Capsules And Steroid Ear Drops. Can This Clear Up In 2-3 Days Instead Of Advised 2 Weeks?
I have been to see my primary care physician with an ear infection. She prescribed amoxicillin capsules 500 mg 3 times a day and a steroid ear drop 3 times a day. But I was also advised that this might take 2 weeks to clear up. I have lost the hearing in this ear and I don't think I can wait 2 weeks for it to clear up. What is my chances of my hearing coming back earlier. Say 2 - 3 days?

hi.. thanks for using HCM.. you had CSOM, and given antibiotics and drops for 2 weeks.. you should follow the advice of your doctor for complete recovery.. you have hearing loss?.. wait for 2 weeks, once the ear clears up, see your ENT surgeon for otoscopic examination.. if there is perforated tympanic membrane, you need to undergo surgery of tympanoplasty, hearing will get better. all the very best..
