Loss Of Vision, Unable To Read Eye Chart. No Help From Doctors. Guide
my husband recently lost most of his eyesight, he has been to an eye dr who referred him to a specialist who we saw yesterday. when he was asked to read the eye chart which he could not see, the dr asked him to make up a letter. yes make up a letter even though my husband could only see white. we did not get any information at all as to what was going on, no diagnosis or any help on where to go next
Hi there. From the information you have posted, it appears that your husband has sudden, painless loss of vision. Causes could range from retinal disease which is unilateral to optic nerve pathology to simply a progression of cataractous lens changes that he has finally noticed usually common when these changes are seen in one eye only. He needs a slit lamp examination and a retinal evaluation to pinpoint the cause prior to any diagnosis.
