Loss Of Voice Every Morning, Eases On Coughing Up Green Phlegm, Cheat And Throat Pain. Cause?

I was sick about a month ago for a few days. I had a slight fever , runny nose , cough , hoarse voice, etc. After a few days, I felt completely better minus the fact that I haven t gotten my voice back. I don t cough too often but, every morning without fail, I lose my voice. It only comes back after I cough up a piece of green phlegm about the size of a quarter and it s hard. My voice is still raspy and hoarse, even after I cough up the stuff. My chest hurts and my throat is sore, I think mainly from coughing up all the phlegm in the morning.

Hi there,

I would advise you to do steam inhalation 3 times a day. Drink plenty of warm fluids (warm water, tea, milk). Salt water gargling 3 times a day. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.Try having 1 teaspoon of honey mixed with a pinch of pepper powder three times a day. Eat healthy. If symptoms do not get better, please visit an ENT doctor to find out the cause for the hoarse voice.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya KUttikrishnan
