Low Heart Rate, Tiredness. Should I See A Doctor Soon?
Hi I m a 30 year old female. My resting heart rate is usually 60-65, but it has been running as low as 42 bpm the last couple days and I ve been very tired. Usually during the day it is 50-60 when I m up. My heart rate now is 44 bpm. I have an appt tomorrow to see the doctor. Will it be okay to wait until then or should I try to be seen sooner?
Earlier the better... Go now..
It can be documented / seriousness evaluated / complications avoided.
A thorough history and physical examination is the first step -
You will need investigations - EKG / HOLTER (24 to 48 hour ambulatory monitoring) / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be necessary for further assessment and assistance.
The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck

Low Heart Rate, Tiredness. Should I See A Doctor Soon?
Hi Katiegruner, Thanks for writing your query. You are having bradycardia i.e. low heart rate and it needs an urgent medical attention by a cardiologist. It might be a possibility that you may be having Sick Sinus Syndrome. You may need implantation of pace maker. You should also get an ECG and an Echo done. It will be better if you get yourself clinically examined and investigated as soon as possible. I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
