Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
From the given description, I feel that you might have sustained a Sub-periosteal
hematoma over the shin of tibia.
This should generally resolve within 3 weeks. A certain amount of
tingling &
numbness is common. At times, this hematoma tend to get infected especially in Diabetic persons causing problems.
If it is big one, it may need surgical
drainage. Follow the below mentioned steps and see if it works -
* Rest to the injured part and don’t involve in activities which puts additional strain on the injured tissues.
* Ice packing should be applied for about 20 minutes once in every 2 hours.
* Use elastic compression bandage around the swollen area to resolve swelling
* Elevation of the limb
*
Analgesic & anti inflammatory medications
If you fail to improve , then you may an orthosurgeon's consultation for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
