Lump Formed In The Wrist After 5 Hrs Of Shoveling Snow. No Swelling, Just A Sore. Should It Be A Concern?

hi my boyfriend was out shoveling snow for about 5 hrs today, this after noon he looked down at his wrist and there is a lump that looks like a bone trying to come thru his wrist, its on his left hand and its on the right side of his wrist, its not swelled or black n blue or nothing, he says its a little sore, I thought it might be an over worked muscle, should he get it checked, thank you

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
It seems to be muscle strain.
I advice you to follow the below mentioned guidelines -

* Give adequate rest to the involved muscle group and avoid any movement that causes pain
* Ice packing once in every 2 hours over the affected area
* Moist heat application to relax the muscles
* Local application of muscle relaxant gel
* Analgesic medications as needed

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
