Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was just toughing my neck near my pulse on the left right. and i kind of pressed on it. there was a lump but it is not visible because you have to physically press in and rub it to feel it. It's was like a small ball at first but then as i kept on rubbing it, it flattened down, but i still receive a soreness from it compared to the right side of my neck . Do you know what cause this? I told my teacher this and he said it may be dehydration but i have been drinking water today.
The lump you felt seems to be a lymph node that are present on both sides of the neck and below chin. They are usually not palpable and enlarges to become palpable in certain conditions like infections, lymph blockage or cancers but with serious illness like cancers there is involvement of more than 1 group of lymphnodes and 1 group contains 3-6 lymphnodes. The node you have been feeling might be due to some infection or inflammation usually related to respiratory tract. It is recommended to have a visit to your physician for further work up and evaluation.
Thanks Regards
