Lumpy And Nodular Breast. History Of Invasive Ductal Cancer And Mastectomy Of A Breast. On Tamoxifen. Possible Cancer In Other Breast?

I am anupa, i was having fibroadenosis since my menarche.and at the age of 44 yrs(now) MY lumpyness of one breast shoed an unusually hard area.And biopsy was done diagnosed as an invasive duct ca and mastectomy was done.My other breast also very lumpy and nodular as usual iam fear of getting ca thrtr too. Now i am on tamoxifen.What should I do ?

Dear Ma'am,

Sorry to hear about your problem. Considering you previous history of breast cancer, you should have this nodularity in the other breast evaluated immediately. You should get a mammogram or a sonomammogram (in case the breasts are dense) and review with a breast surgeon. Any suspicious area should be biopsied.
Tamoxifen does reduce the incidence of breast cancer in the other breast by 40% but one can still develop a contralateral tumor.
