Recent MRI shows an area of avascular necrosis of rt humeral head s/p crushing fracture (doi 4/110/13), ortho dr recommended surgery (shoulder replacement). Typically, how long can I put off this surgery before the collapse of the humeral head occurs.? Have not talked to surgeon yet. Pain is 4-6 (1-10 scale) > at night, interrupting sleep. Would like to return to work, will this be possible? Been a nurse for 31 years!

MRI Shows Area Of Avascular Necrosis Of Rt Humeral Head S/p Crushing Fracture. Recommended Surgery. How Long Can Surgery Be Postponed?
Hello, I have studied your case. There can be soft tissue fibrosis and adhesion if you wait till humoral head collapse occurs. Shoulder replacement needs intact functioning rotator cuff. SO I will advise to go for surgery soon. Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
