Macular degeneration, or age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of vision loss in older. There are two types, wet and dry types. In dry type, there are blood vessels covering the macular area. This can be treated, not cured, by laser surgery or injections in to the macular area. But in the Dry type, there is break done of cells in the macular area, so there is no treatment. But unfortunately, 85% people had dry type.
It is rare for a patient with Macular Degeneration to go completely blind, because it affects the macula and destroys central vision. The surrounding retina enables peripheral vision. It may be slowed down by treatment but there is no cure at present. Has he tried prismatic lenses?
