Massive Heart Attack. Defibrillators Installed. History Of CHF. Are Defibrillators Working?
hi, my 27 year old son has battled chf for a year. he's had 2 defibs inplanted the 1st one stoped working and the 2nd was upgraded to a 3 lead device. he was doing fine after the last defib was inplanted. on the 15 of aug he had a doc appointment and all was fine the only thing he had to do was loose 10lbs. on aug 17 we found him in the bed he had a massive heart attack. what I want to know is the defib that was inplanted is it still working? and why was blood found around his top teeth
Respected ma'm/ Sir 1. There is no reason that defibrillator should not be working. Defibrillators do not prevent heart attack. They only terminate the attacks of dangerous heart rhythms. They are checked periodically as per schedule decided by your physician. They have extremely low rate of component failure. Moreover, you can always call the representative of the company and get the defibrillator evaluated in physician's office. 2. Possible causes for blood near teeth can be physical injury to mouth due to fall/ seizures induced by rhythm disorder of heart/ tongue bite or an injury to lip in association with severe pain or rhythm disorder of heart. Sincerely Sukhvinder
