Hi,

Artificial Pacemaker is required when the original pacemaker of our body (S.A. Node) does not work properly.

We just put a small cut near the shoulder where inside we put the small battery of the pacemaker.

There are two additional wires which go to the heart and remains there which actually paces the heart.

The procedure generally lasts around 45 to 90 minutes. We do it under local anesthesia while the patient is awake.

We have been doing the procedure regularly for a long time and have done thousands of patients here in India.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Sameer Maheshwari, Cardiologist
