General & Family Physician, Dr. Sheetal's Response
Hi,
If you have tested positive on a VDRL and TPHA test, it indicates that you may have Syphilis. Do consult your doctor for a prescription of a suitable antibiotic (usually penicillin or tetracycline).
The VDRL test usually becomes negative after adequate treatment of the infecton, but the TPHA test remains positive for several years after the infection has been treated.
Hope I have answered your query.
