Menstural Migraines, Allergy To Dustmites And Mold, Old Neck Injury. MRI Showed Lesions On Brain. Can Uterine Ablation Help?

. Hi Dr. Grief,

SUBJECT: possibility of uterine ablation to help control menstrual migraine.
I am 47 and have had very frequent migraines since early childhood. I have family history of migraine, allergies to dust mites and mold, and an old neck injury (and lifelong poor posture as a result), so I definitely have more than one trigger. However, I have noticed that my menstrual migraines have become far more severe and harder to treat in recent years. I inquired about birth control but my doctor said my risk for stroke is too high because I get auras (only sometimes, though) and I have lesions on my brain, according to a recent MRI or CT scan; can't recall which. I estimate that I'm getting at least 2 dozen extra-strength migraines per year because of my periods. Is there any way uterine ablation might help? FYI: currently taking allergy meds, verapamil, generic Wellbutrin and generic Valium (to prevent neck spasms) as far as preventive meds, and use Maxalt as sparingly as possible for rescue meds. I'm also doing PT for the neck problems. Probably more information than you wanted! Thanks,
Stefanie

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I can understand your concern, Your menstrual migraine is not just alone factor behind your episode of headache but there are other factor too which may be responsible for this and that is your anxiety, stress, you need come out of this first instead of looking for ablation, again I am not sure ablation would be benefited because menstrual migraine need to be properly diagnosed let me inform you that menstruation is just triggering factor for headache, it may not always trigger the migraine it all depend upon the hormone level variation in hormone level may not be always there, I would advise you to try ergotamine compound in tab. form may be helpful to you have nice day.
I find this answer helpful
