Metastasized Breast Cancer To The Liver,drinking Free Ensure. Advantages And Ill-effects
I ve been reading that sugars promote cancer. My Mom has metastasized breast cancer to the liver and is back on chemo . She just got some free Ensure from the Cancer Alliance and has been drinking it. I told her I don t think she should be drinking it. I figure she would be further off taking a multiple and eating fruit. At least the fiber helps to control the blood sugar. What is your opinion?

It is a controversial topic that sugars increase cancer. Some ancient medical practitioners used to keep patients fasting so that the cancer cells do not receive the nutrition and die. In allopathic modern medicine it is a myth. To fight the cancer you need full energy in the body which is provided by carbohydrates to be converted into sugar for burning and storage. The sugars are oxidising agents. Once the cells are fully oxygenated they have more power to fight cancer.So accordingly your mother needs full energy from carbohydrates and proteins to resist the cancer progression and repeat chemo therapy. I think she can continue to consume Ensure.

Sugar is just a type of carbohydrate. Most of our food contain carbohydrates only. We need carbohydrates daily for our normal metabolism. If it is excess it is stored as fat or utilised for body repair and body building. In cancer patients there is an increase in the eneriven.gy requirement because of cancer cells and also because of chemotherapy. So your mom needs more energy in some form. Since she is already taking ensure let her continue the same. Because the most common problem with patients who take chemotherapy is vomiting and reduced appetite because of which the subsequent chemotherapy drugs could not be given. Moreover there is no proven evidence that sugar causes breast cancer.
