Middle Finger Swollen Even After Stitches Due To Cut, Unable To Make Fist. Is This Permanent ?
Hello Dr. I fell down with a glass bottle in my hand in late october of this year, i cut my middle and ring finger, while i was wearing a ring on the middle finger (I had it cut off the next day before i got stitches). i received stitches on both fingers. However, after about a month i realized the my middle finger was still swollen and i cant make a fist because my finger will not bend all the way. i feel a stiffness in the joints if my middle finger as well. Moreover, my middle finger will not extend backwards either. As of now it has a permeant ark forwards. do i need to see a hand specialist?
Welcome to HCM. It could be due to development of fibrosis involving the tendons and joint capsule. You have to do exercise regularly. Physiotherapy is advisable under guidance of your orthopedician and physiotherapist. Consult orthopedician for better guidance and medical management.
