Mild Periods With Pain. Pain Worsens On Breathing. What Is It?

I have been bleeding vaginally for about four days very lightly and with little pain - this is out of the ordinary as it is not when I usually have my period. Then today I experienced a very sharp constant pain in my lower right side which got worse as I tried to draw breath. I have no idea what is going on, will it all just pass?

hi,
thank you for your query.

what you are describing are the menstrual cramps.Menstrual cramps are contractions of the uterus. When a female menstruates, special hormones are released. These hormones work to stimulate the muscular contractions necessary for shedding the uterine lining. As prostaglandins trigger menstrual cramps, they also take the heat for the pain that so often accompanies them.there is surrounding muscle catch in some people hence the difficulty in breathing in air.

Treatment is typically aimed at reducing discomfort. Over-the-counter pain medications are frequently used to neutralize menstrual pain. Massage, heat application, and other home remedies are often used as well. Some women find relief from physical exercise or stretching.
the pain should gradually subside hence no need to worry.

thank you,
wishing you good health
