Mom Is 85 And Has Been Healthy, Other Than High

Mom is 85 and has been healthy, other than high blood pressure. About a month ago, started having sore throat. Her PCP was on vacation, and I took her to urgent care, strep was ruled out. Sore throat continued, difficulty swallowing, hearing aid irritated left ear. PCP returned and they ran blood work. All ok there, PCP didn't want to see her. So we got her into the dentist, who found a nodule in back of throat. She was referred to oral surgeon today who has referred her to ENT. She will be seen next week. Of course my concern is throat cancer at this point, but is there anything to do until she is seen to relieve the soreness and difficulty swallowing?
