hi i had a wasp flew into my ear canal yesterday and i stung me over 7 times it was trapped very deep down and took about 15 mins to extract with a long tweezers, my friend couldnt see it in there so just kept jamming around till he got hold of it, worst pain in my life i went to a& after and the doc notice blood in my ear, but now when i breathe i feel cold air coming in my ear and warm air when i breathe out, i am due to see a ear specialist in 3 weeks , my hearing is muffled and the inside of my head feels swollen and a echo feeling around the ear canal..

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I understand you must be in pain. Having a live foreign body in your ear is not easy to deal with, but your friend shouldn't have pulled it. The correct way was to kill the wasp by instilling spirit/ hydrogen peroxide and then to be removed by a Specialist.
The wasp sting and injury induced by tweezers could have injured your ear canal and your eardrum, since you feel the air coming out. Till you see the Specialist, keep the ear dry. Don't meddle and don't let any water enter the ear. I hope the doc at ER has put you on painkillers and antibiotics. Take them for 5-7 days. If you have access to an audiological test, get it as a baseline reading. Hopefully the ear drum should heal, but yes, you need to follow up with your Specialist.

Hope you have a speedy recovery,
Dr Vaishali Mehta
