Muffled Hearing, Swollen Tongue. Taken Antibiotics. Any Ideas?
Since December, I've had problems with my right ear (muffled sound) and a swollen tongue. Initially I had a ear infection that was treated with antibiotics. THe infection is gone but it feels clogged like swimmer's ear. My tongue is fine in the morning, but by the afternoon it is swollen and hard to speak. Saliva also builds up when my tongue is swollen. This happens everyday now. Any ideas?

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
As infection in ear has been treated but still you have muffled hearing, could be due to persistent infection in ear or serous otitis media (collection of fluid with in middle ear). you need to get ear examined by ENT specialist. tongue symptoms could be due to involvement of facial nerve in middle ear. Consult your doctor for examination and management. Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
