Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 11 year old sons friend was staying with us last night. at around 2145 he began feeling ill. By 2200 he had gone to use the restroom, come back to the TV room and gone to the restroom again. when he came back down this time he was feeling worse and looking pale and wanted to lay down. At approx. 2210 i found him upstairs he was moaning saying he was hurt and he couldn't see anything with his arms outstretched eyes wide open and his face was so pale I could see his blue veins all over his face and his eyes had lost most color and were cloudy looking. He is a 12 year old boy with no allergies known but his father said he had many allergies when he was a kid. when I found him he was searching for the bathroom for the third time in half an hour. He had to get to a toilet before his vision came back because it was coming out whether he was at a toilet or not. he was holding his stomach with intense pain in his facial expression. he was scared and confused and having trouble speaking clearly. he said he had fallen to the ground when he was in the kitchen waiting for someone to finish in the restroom. For dinner we had Costco Chicken Alfredo and then the boys played video games and ate some candy for about three hours when he had his attack. Just wanting to try and figure out what happened to him. He had transient blindness for about 4 minutes then recovered fully and could see fine after about 12 minutes. he also mentioned that his neck hurt really bad afterwards and that he felt exhausted. I talked with his father when he picked him up for about 15 minutes, got my sons friend some water before he left because he looked warm and his dad said he felt warm when he touched his forehead. it happened so fast but after researching a little Because of the symptoms he had I believe the boy had an abdominal migraine. My question is do you think this could be a symptom of an underlying problem or is this the tell tale sign that he will have migraines throughout life? Also he is very thin doesn't eat a lot, and what he does eat is lacking vital nutrition. He also recovered from severe broken leg about two months ago.
