My 13 Yr Old Daughter Has Been Suffering From Nausea, Dizziness, Abdominal Pain And Rashes. What Could Be This ?

Hi My 13yr old daughter started having headaches about 2yr ago. For the last 10mths she had various degrees of nausea everyday, some times vomiting. She has adominal pain, feels dizzy at times, tired, headaches and sometimes a blotchy red rash appears. The rash can appear on her face , neck, chest , legs and arms. These symtoms come and go at different times and are not always together. There is no certain time and she can wake up or go to bed feeling this way. We have been to various doctors, had full blood tests, CT scan and abdominal ultasound. We have also tried a non gluten/wheat diet for 6 weeks which didn t change her symptoms. Regards Cathi.

Acute intermitent porphyia can present in this way. If all other tests are normal get a urinary porphobilnogen (PBG) tested on 3 consequtive days. Urine has to be sheilded from light as PBG with disintegrate if exposed to light, hence cover the container immediately with a dark conering (carbon paper)
