Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 18 year old took a blood test in order to take Accutane. The dermatologist said his triglyceride level was high at 149 and would not prescribe without retesting. My son is 145 lbs at 5' 8" and was actually eating high protein, low fat due to wrestling season coming up. It was a fasting blood draw. They said the cholesterol levels were normal.
Is this in fact a high level for age/weight? If so, could this be hereditary? What are possible causes?
