Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 2.5 year old woke up with an unknown bite type Saturday morning 5/28. It caused some local swelling in the ear and we took him to an urgent care for examination. He was not experiencing significant pain and was not very disturbed by the bite. The doctor prescribed Benadryl and Zyrtec as needed for pain; but indicated it was not a serious situation. My son has not complained about the situation in the last week. After I returned for a 3-day business trip today 6/2, I expected the bite to be nearly undetectable. Instead, there is even more swelling than when I last saw him Tuesday AM. The site is red and swollen. Should a bite's swelling have subsided by 6 days later?
