Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 78 year old mother had a physical that showed abnormal kidney function. She had an ultra sound and it showed thinning of the renal cortex. Her doctor wants to watch it. She is very active and sharp mentally as well as physically. What exactly does this mean and can she prevent further thinning with medication, diet, etc... Does this progress slowly or will it lead to kidney failure?
