My 89 Year Old Mother Has Frequent UTI. Her Primary
My 89 year old Mother has frequent UTI. Her primary Doctor has prescribed Macrobid to treat ecoill bacteria. She is allergic to sulfa drugs. Is there another antibiotic that you would recommend for this bacteria. She is diabetic and has high blood pressure. She recently has a mild heart attack. I know this drug isn t a sulfa drug.

I really appreciate your concern, if it is the urinary tract infection of female patient with history of diabetic then it is highly advisable to get done the culture sensitivity test for urine there it will be given all the list of sensitive and resistance drugs not just this but it will also show the causative organism because some time such symptoms could be there without infection, till then she can be give " Disodium hydrogen citrate syrup" 20 ml three times in day, hope this information helps
