My 93 year mother has always had slight tremors especially in her hands. She sold her house in May expecting to move into a brand new but unfinished assisted living facility because she had fallen in her home 3 times in 3 months. The third time was in the middle of the night and she was unable to stand up by herself next to her bed and even with assistance of her 24/7 aide. An emergency medical group took her to a hospital where a doctor noticed her hand tremors and thought he saw tremors in her legs. He concluded that her inability to stay standing was due to tremors and he diagnosed Parkinson's disease. He prescribed Sinemet 25/100.
My mother was supposed to enter her new assisted living apartment but was delayed first until September 15, then finally until November 16. During this time, she became very stresse. It is understood that such a move even for a healthy elderly adult would be very stressful. My question is, could Sinemet contribute to this stress, which has now led to an unconfirmed diagnosis of congestive heart failure, with my mother unable to walk with a walker which she was capable of doing in September and now she is speaking of feeling as if she had died ,mentioning this twice today to me and once to one of my sisters. Should we consider tapering her off Sinemet?
