My Daughter Had A Head Injury, Should I Take Her To The Hospital?
My 8 yr old daughter was hit in the head at 6:30, she has a dent in the spot she was hit, she does not remember walking in to the house from the backyard after it happened. She isn't throwing up, but doesn't have an appite either, should I take her to the hospital?
I always counsel parents with young children that no head injury is a simple thing especially when loss of memory and changes in mood, appetite, or sleep are concerned. If this were my child I would definitely get her to higher level of care, even an Urgent Care Center if you don't necessarily want the hassle of waiting all day in the ER...but she needs a CT of the head and neck in my opinion and more importantly a good neurological exam by other an ER doc, a pediatric, or a neurologist. I am a neurologist. If you would like to write me more information about what's going on....I'm happy to respond to you...but you need to get her seen at the same time.
