My acupuncturist gave me Neuro-5-HTP Plus to try for seasonal and stress related depression. I normally don't do too many herbal meds, because my neurologist gets concerned. But I am really having some temporary difficulty with depression and would like to try this. Several other friends I know have tried it and said it really helps. My docs would prefer to stay off long term anti-depressants. My question is can I take the HTP-5 without it affecting the threshold level on my seizure medication? My seizure medication is Depakote DR (250 tabs taken throughout the day). I take the name brand kind too to avoid fluctuations in the level of medicine in the pill as they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and they couldn't promise me the same one every time on the generic.
