Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my five month old son is having several (8-11)watery stool since the last 10 days. He would poop in every nappy till he was about 3 months old.He had begun to have thick poop after that and would pass stool twice a day. I dont know what to do. He is primarily a breastfed baby...only 6 ounces of formula per day. Please help...
I just stumbled upon your question. I would suggest you look up milk allergy and/or foremilk/hind milk imbalance. I too am breastfeeding my 3 month old. She has explosive bowel movements that range from yellowish green, to green and mucousy. They smell awful too and happen at least 8-12 times a day. She just started screaming after each feeding and projectile spit ups. I had thought it was the foremilk imbalance (the 1st milk that is full of more sugars) therefore spitting up alot more. I have a strong let down so it made sense. My mom told me about my milk allergy that I outgrew at 2yrs old and everything points to that. She doesn't have any blood in her stools. But she does have a lot of the symptoms. You can try eliminating dairy out of your diet (it says a milk allergy can come on around 4 months or so). It also says it will take up to 2 weeks to be out of your system and won't see a difference in about 4-5 days. Well I'm on 48hrs and FINALLY my baby has stopped crying after each feed, stopped spitting up, and her poo in back to a yellow/orange. Hope this helps!!???
Hello.
Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
In young children it is quite normal to poop after every major feed.Your child might be having viral diarrhoea. Sachets of pre and probiotics will help in treating his problem.
