My Brother Is In Hospital With Lupus He Was Diagnosed

My brother is in hospital with lupus he was diagnosed 10 years ago. He has pneumonia in both his lungs an infection in his gut & recently had a seizure. The doctors think that he might have something on his brain which I'm sure would be life threatening. He had a lumbar puncture which came back clear does this mean that he doesn't have an infection on his brain? Also the doctors are saying that his infections are getting worse does this mean he could die? I'm really worried. My brother seems like he's getting better in his self but what the doctors are telling us more bad news. I'm really confused.
