My dad had a boil in his butt crack that was painful for a couple of weeks. He is a diabetic and I encouraged him to seek medical attention so they could start him on an antibiotic. He has be soaking it in Epsom salt baths and I believe using a triple antibiotic cream. Because of his diabetes medication he has frequent diarrhea. I'm concerned about his ability to keep it clean. Besides his need to seek medical attention and start antibiotic therapy what other things can he continue to do to keep it clean and promote healing?
