My Daughter Had Mono And When She Was Recovering From

My daughter had mono and when she was recovering from that caught what her doctor said was hand foot and mouth. She never got blisters on her hands anywhere but inside her mouth...and it was a lot of blisters. They erupted on her tongue and eventually went away about 2 weeks later. A nurse friend said she may have had Gingivostomatitis. Whatever it was, she now has lost her taste buds. Her tongue is bright red and slick. It has been around 10 days since she has been healed from the blisters. Have you heard of someone loosing their taste buds and will they grow back soon if they do? Thanks for your help.
