My Daughter Had Severe Ulcerative Colitis, Sick And Hospitalized For

My daughter had severe ulcerative colitis, sick and hospitalized for many years until her large intestine shredded and was removed. She has been well for four years since having her small intestine re-attached to her rectum. Now she is getting re-occurent shingles on her face. This time the dr diagnosed it as oral herpes. She is devastated that she is now contagious, has to tell her partner, pregnant sister, and not be able to kiss nieces and nephews and her life is over. Is shingles the same as oral herpes. What can I tell her to calm her down?
