My daughter is 24. Since February of this year she has been diagnosed with c def 3 times. She has been hospitalized 5 times and was in the ER again today convinced it was c def again. Her pain is so severe when she has these bouts with chronic watery diarrhea. In August they removed her gallbladder based on results of a Hida scan. She has been much better since then but still has not had a normal BM since Feb. She had such severe pain today that she went to the ER-they did the cdef test and it was negative. IF it had been positive they were going to do a fecal transplant. They sent her home with some pain meds and one doctor said its probably IBS. She thinks it a false negative on the c def test because the symptoms and the smell are identical to the other times she tested positive. They say the test is highly reliable. She has had nothing to eat or drink since this morning and is still in severe pain. I fear there could be something wrong with another organ but throughout her hospitalizations they did MRI's 2 colonoscopies and 2 endoscopies clearing her from the diagnosis of crohns and I thought they also ruled out IBS. Just very frustrated. Any theories of why this has occurred again? People who have been diagnosed with IBS say the pain is not severe like she describes. Doctors also said the pain is usually not that severe with c def either and that is what led them to the gall bladder. She has been fine with the exception of continued diarrhea since the gall bladder removal 2 months ago until now.
