Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 6 years old. Last year we noticed staring spells....first thought it was just her not paying attention. Then she had a long staring spell that lasted 30 seconds and we couldn't get her out of it. We had eeg which was normal. Then we had 48 he eeg which showed irregular discharge in left frontal lobe area. Had mri showed white spots in left frontal lobe but nothing else. Had sleep study to see if it was sleep apnea showed nothing. So neurologist told us to see our pediatrician to put her on add meds. Tried focalin made her very emotional. Then they put her on adderrall which made her very aggressive with horrible outburst. Took her off adderrall 3 weeks ago still seeing these symptoms and now at school she is having spells where she has deer in the headlights look. She is also having trouble answering questions almost as if she can't understand what she's being asked. While on adderrall she had a staring spell for minutes. Our pediatrician has referred us back to neurologist, a behavioral analysis center and a psychiatrist. Do you think these symptoms she's having is caused from the adderrall or could it be seizures or do you think it could be something else??? I'm very worried. She has a small sacral dimple and she also had a small red birthmark on her face and eyes when burn. It's not noticeable now unless she gets upset. We have not had any bloodwork done in over a year any help would be greatly appreciated.
