hi Doc, my kid is 9 years old. for the last 5 days she has been presenting with low grade fever. initially i suspected it to be viral and hence put her on crocin syrup. however for the last 3 days she has been passing green stools (3 times a day). Also has fever between 99.4 - 100.6 degree F which is intermittent. cud it be viral or bacterial gastroenteritis. what is the treatment modality that i should be following. she refuses to go to a doc or get investigated. kindly advise regards
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
It can be viral or bacterial. This can be confirmed only if we do total leucocyte count and differential leucocyte count in blood or blood culture. However it can be treated empirically with antibiotic like ofloxacin and ornidazole which I found very useful in my patients
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
