My doctor discontinued Diovan due to the voluntary recall and prescribed Losartan. I am having surgery on Aug 6 and I do not want to start on Losartan for fear of side effects. I have several drug allergies and they include hives, throat and swelling of the tongue. . Diovan has worked very well for me. My problem is that if I do not stop Diovan when I am in the hospital they will not have Diovan and will start me on something else which is fine at that time. I fear if I have problems I won’t be able to have my surgery as planned. I’m conflicted about discontinuing Diovan until after my surgery. Would it be ok if I do not discontinue Diovan for just a few more weeks?
