My Doctor Gave Me A Prescription For Ranitidine 150 Mg

My doctor gave me a prescription for ranitidine 150 mg one per day. He suggested it would help control the hives I have had flair up. The Medrol pack seems to have dried things up but the ranitidine doesn't seem to be for hives. Is it an antihistamine?
