My Doctor Has Recommended I Have My Thyroid Killed Due

My doctor has recommended I have my Thyroid killed due to anxiety attacks he believes may be caused by hyperthyroidism. One year ago when the attacks started my TSH was .404 recent blood test showed it is now .425 . I have no results for T3 or T4 levels. I fanally convinced him to prescribe me Clomazepam .5mg. After taking one dose I have been symptom free for almost a month now.
I did take Methamazole for approx. two months last year at the onset of attacks,
Destroying my thyroid seems like an extreme step at this point, especially since I no longer have symptoms (shaking, anxiety, crying). Should I be seeking a second opinion? Is there anything else I should know?
