My Dog Has Always Had Limited Vision But This Has

My dog has always had limited vision but this has suddenly gotten much worse. Vet ran blood work which came back fine except thyroid level at the low end of normal. He won't hardly move and has started backing up, away from me, and whining although he has taken his first dose of pain meds today. What could be wrong?
