My Endocrinologist Wants Me To Take 50,000 IU Of Vitamin

My endocrinologist wants me to take 50,000 IU of vitamin D2 twice a week for 6 months. I worry that 100,000 IU per week is too much. My calcium blood level was 29 and she doubled the dose of D2. I have read that it is okay to take more D2 for two or three weeks. Lots of bad "side effects" can result from too much vitamin D.
