My Father Has Kidney Cancer And It Spreaded To His

My father has kidney cancer and it spreaded to his left bone hip. his doc prescribed him sutent. He takes it 28 days and then pauses for 14 days. in the 14 days his leg starts to hurt him and to relief the pain he takes 15mg of morphine every 2 days.I should mention that his doc told him not to take the morphine and in case his leg started hurting he should take panadol or doliprane ,but he is so stubborn.
it has been a week since he started taking the morphine and my family and I noticed him beeing so lazy and oversleeping. like he sleeps at least 12 or 13 hours a day. when he doesn't take the morphine he is normal and active, but now it is not the case.
is that a side effect of the morphine?
