My Father In Law Has High Sugar. Which All Food He Can Eat?

My father in law has high Sugar, and he is circumsized at the age of 61 to treat his urinary tract infection (he was not able to pee properly), i requesting for any advice on what he can eat, because of the diabetes we are nervous about giving him any juices or ice creams as many have suggested

The food items are classifiedaccording to glycemic index which is dependent on each of the foods

Secondly for high blood sugars you need to eat foods which contain low glycemic index lik foods _
Vegetables
Fruits
Pulses

But some foods like pulses need to be avoided in conditions like penal failure or nephropathy
