My father is in a rehab facility because he had what seems similar to a stroke. I'd like to find out a more detailed medical explanation for what he had. He does have a history of blood clots, and suddenly noticed one eye was drooping and so went to the ER. After the event, he has difficulty swallowing and talking (now completely unintelligible where before he was very articulate). His motor skills were also affected. He can no longer even sign his name. However, he suffered no paralysis on either side of his body, and is able to walk using a walker. His social worker keeps telling us that he could write if he wanted (to better communicate with us) because he doesn't have all the symptoms of a stroke, and so must be faking it or is being stubborn and just doesn't want to write or hold his fork properly in order to eat.
