My Father Lost Hearing In One Ear In 1953 While

My father lost hearing in one ear in 1953 while in the service. This past Saturday he went to bed hearing fine out of his other ear and woke up Sunday and could not hear anything at all. Urgent care looked for infection and wax build up with none there. Sent him to ER just in case it was a stroke. They did a Cat Scan and found nothing. Went to VA Hospital today and still could not find anything. The ER did put him on prednisone to see if that might help. Do you have any ideas about what it could be or have you heard of this? He also said that his scalp feels really tight. VA dr. said there is nothing on his brain.
