My Father Was Advised To Go For Thallium Stress Test After Angiography. Is This Test Really Required?
My father had bypass surgery 6 years back. His age is 58 yrs. Yesterda he underwent angiography as he was suffering from some chest discomfort. After angiography, doctor suggested for thallium stress test tomorrow as he is not quite sure if stent will be useful. I m confused is this test really required?
Dear sir/madam, by your description it looks like the angiogram done has revealed some borderline disease in the blood vessels. So your doctors wants to make sure that whether is there any mismatch in blood supply and demand to heart muscles ( inducible ischemia ). Its better to get stress thallium done, if it comes positive then revascularization ( treating the blockage by angioplasty/ redo cabg ) will help. Have follow up with your treating cardiologist.
