My Friend Had His Prostate Removed Recently Because Of Cancer,

My friend had his prostate removed recently because of cancer, but the doctor did not remove the seminal vesicles. A week after the prostatectomy, they told my friend that the biopsy they took during the surgery showed cancer cells in the seminal vesicles. Couldn't they just do another surgery to remove the seminal vesicles instead of doing radiation therapy?
