Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grand daughter is 5 years old. In the past year she has gained a lot of weight. She has always been a little over weight but she is obese now. I think she weighs about 80 lbs. She is tall for her age is almost as tall as her 7 year old sister. She is very active and runs and plays outside almost every day. She does have a healthy appetite but normally does not eat very many snacks. She also is having some trouble with potty training and even though is doing much better occasionally dribbles a little. Her urine has a bad odor. My daughter has had her at the doctor and they have tested her urine and say she does not have an infection. Though one time they gave her an antibiotic and her symptoms improved for a few weeks. This has been going on for several years. She also had problems with her bowels and constipation. She would have huge stools and would be incontinent. They have her on gummy fiber now and that seems to be helping that. She seems healthy and does not get sick with colds or flu often. It just seems that somehow all this is interconnected and needs to addressed. She has another dr appt next week. but afraid it will be more of the same. Does she need to see an endocrinologist? Urologist?
